Browns head coach says the QB’s have to take the starting spot from Kessler

USC quarterback Cody Kessler will compete for a starting spot in Cleveland
Cody Kessler is heading into OTA’s as the starter

The Cleveland Browns acquired Brock Osweiler in a trade and landed DeShone Kizer via the draft, but if they want a chance to compete in Cleveland they are going to have to beat out Cody Kessler.

Hue Jackson told the media, this is Cody Kessler’s team for now.

“This thing’s open. It really is,” Jackson said Saturday after the team’s second rookie camp practice, via Pat McManamon of ESPN. “But Cody’s done a great job. That’s the reason I brought his name up first. He’s really improved. He’s worked his tail off, and he deserves the right and the opportunity to walk in this building and walk out there first.

“And they’ve got to take it from him.”

I like that the Browns are giving Osweiler a shot instead of just kicking him to the curb. He could have value before the start of the season.
