Brandon Barnes

What is your Height/Weight? 

6ft 4in/255lbs

What is your position? 

Tight end, H-Back, Wide receiver

Where do you play college football? 

Alabama State University

Football is about giving back, what is the coolest thing you have done off the field? 

Did community service with my teammates such as plant gardens, cut grass, and paint around the elementary school, as well as read to the kids that attend the elementary school

What was the hardest college class you ever had to take?

Law of Communications

Where are you from? 

Phenix City, Alabama

Who is your role model, and why?

My dad because he taught me the value of hard work. Julio Jones because he’s my favorite player since High school. Antonio Brown because he was a walk-on just like myself in college. Delanie Walker because he is my favorite tight end.

Did you play any other sports growing up? 

Basketball, Baseball, and track and field

Did you play any other positions in football? 

None other than special teams.

At your position, what separates you from others? 

What separates me from others is my versatility. I can play receiver, line up with my hands in the dirt, I can also play h-back as well and I have much experience doing all three.

When you are breaking down film, what do you look for?

Defensive tendencies of other teams, how they try to disguise coverages, how defenses adjust to motions. Also, I pay close attention to who will be guarding the tight end.

Who was the toughest player you ever faced?

Bud Dupree my freshman year in college when we played Kentucky Wildcats. And Javancy Jones from Jackson State

If you could compare your play to one player in the NFL who would it be and why? 

Greg Olsen because we do a lot of similar things and he is also very versatile.

What was the biggest obstacle in your life you had to overcome, and how did you overcome it? 

The fact that I walked on and I didn’t get on full scholarship until my Junior Season right after my mom passed away. To be honest God is the only way I could have possibly overcame those obstacles.

Do you have any pre-game rituals?

After our team runs out I always run to the back of the end zone to say a prayer before every game. What is your biggest strength? 

The fact that I can do a lot of things such as catch the ball; I can block decent but I can be a lot better and I play just about every special teams except for kickoff.

What is your biggest weakness? 

Blocking because I know that is something that I need to improve on, but I have been working on that and I have film to prove that I have gotten better as the season went along.

If I were a GM and gave you a second to sell yourself, what would you say? 

I love the game and I’m a very hard worker that is willing to do anything to get better and get on a team whether its special teams, scout team, I’m willing to do anything to have a positive contribution.

Who was your favorite player and/or NFL team growing up? 

Vick!!!!!!!!!!! and Atlanta Falcons

If you could have dinner with three people dead or alive, who would you choose? 

Harriet Tubman, Megan Good and Martin Luther King

What will be the first big item you buy once you are in the NFL?

I don’t know; I have never thought about it. Maybe give back to my high school because they need it.
