Bears hosted Josh Freeman today; Could be Cutler’s back-up?

Today the Chicago Bears hosted former Minnesota Vikings quarterback Josh Freeman according to Jason LaCanfora.  Freeman had a horrible season last year for the Vikings, getting benched for both Matt Cassel and Christian Ponder on numerous occasions, but if anyone can revive his career it is Bears head coach Marc Tressman.

Tressman is a very solid quarterbacks coach, and understands the position.  He has made his career on making quarterbacks solid players again.  Last year the Buccaneers let Freeman walk and he had quite a bit of suitors but chose to play for the Vikings with Adrian Peterson.  Freeman had a very solid season in 2012 when he threw for 27 touchdowns for the Buccaneers.  He has the intangibles to be a very solid quarterback, but he will need someone to boost his confidence.

Sitting behind Jay Cutler could be a blessing, because the guy seems to always be sidelined for a game or two.  Last year Cutler, should have lost his job to Josh McCown but the team decided to re-sign Cutler and pay him big.  If Freeman does land in Chicago watch out, he could be coming for your job Jay.
