With four games on national television tonight, I thought I would go game by game and give you 3 players from each team that are currently fighting for a roster spot with their current teams. On August 27 — Prior to 4:00 p.m., eastern time, clubs must reduce their rosters to a maximum of 75 players on the Active List, which gives these guys just two more games to make an impact before cuts. Here are three guys on each team that I believe need to stand out if they want to make the rosters.
Casey Matthews – LB – Clay Matthews baby brother might not make it too much longer on the roster, even if his head coach from Oregon is at the helm. I expect Matthews to get the boot, but that depends on injuries. As a special teams player he is a very solid player, but he is too small to play as an every down linebacker.
Dennis Dixon – QB – OH NO, not two Oregon guys in a row, YEP. I have a feeling that Dennis Dixon will not beat out Matt Barkley, Nick Foles or Michael Vick. There is no way that Chip Kelly keeps four quarterbacks on his roster. I look like I am a DUCK killer, but I am not, just telling the truth.
Felix Jones – RB – The former Dallas Cowboy has been horrible since the Eagles picked him up. He is getting out worked by a former undrafted free agent Chris Polk. I think Jones’ days at running back are over. He has had injuries and has really lost a step. Say bye bye to Felix…
Jimmy Clausen – QB – I remember when this kid came out, everyone and their MOM wanted him. The Notre Dame product has been horrible in the NFL, and right now he is fighting with Colby Cameron for a roster spot. I think his days are over, they are paying him a good check to ride the pine.
Domenik Hixon – WR – After making one of the most impressive receptions ever in the Super Bowl, Hixon has really had a hard time at making an impact on the field. While Hixon has done a wonderful job in camp, I don’t see how they will keep him because they are so deep at wide out. He is fighting for a spot right now with Pilares and Armanti Edwards.
Sione Fua – DT – The Stanford big man will be fighting with former HBCU stand out Frank Kearse for the final spot, but I think Kearse holds on to the spot. Kearse has better inside moves and seems more aggressive. If Fua wants a chance he will have to eat tonight.
