5 undrafted players with the best chance to make the Packers roster

Many NFL players each year go from not hearing their name called on draft day to making the 53 man roster or the practice squad. The Packers have been one of the most popular teams for undrafted free agents because multiple players that were not drafted make their roster each year. Here are the 5 undrafted players that have the best chance to make the Packers roster.

John Crockett RB North Dakota State
Crockett was a stud throughout his career for North Dakota State. He rushed for over 1,000 yards in three straight seasons. The Packers running back depth chart is very talented but also very thin. Eddie Lacy and James Starks are locks to make the roster but beyond that is a question mark. Expect fellow undrafted running backs Rajion Neal and Alonzo Harris to battle it out with Crockett for the 3rd running back spot. The Packers could potentially keep four running backs if they feel one has special team ability and considering James Starks and Eddie Lacey have injury histories.

Alonzo Harris RB Louisiana Lafayette

Harris is a big back that was very tough to bring down while playing for the Ragin Cajuns. He averaged 4.7 ypc in his final season and had 44 touchdowns in his career. He is very good in short yardage situations which could help the Packers. Harris and Crockett both have solid chances to make the roster.

LaDarius Gunter CB Miami (FL)

LaDarius Gunter looks to follow the path of Sam Shields by making the Packers roster as an undrafted free agent after playing college at Miami. Gunter brings size and length that not many corners on the Packers have. He is easily the tallest corner on the roster and also brings tremendous ball skills that he showed at the senior bowl. There are still a lot of questions at corner and Gunter could bring some depth to the position.

Matt Rotheram G Pittsburgh

Matt Rotheram was a beast alongside T.J. Clemmings for Pittsburgh. He was an elite run blocker throughout his career. He ranked as the best overall run blocker in nation last season according to Pro Football Focus. The Packers need some depth along the offensive line and Rotherham’s versatility to play guard and tackle will help. His hair will also fit perfectly with the Packers.

James Vaughters LB Stanford

Vaughters was a player who always got to the football and is a solid tackler. Tackling has been one of the main issues for the Packers defense over the last couple of years. The Packers have some undrafted linebackers such as Jayrone Elliott and Andy Mulumba on the roster. Vaughters could be the next especially if he can help on special teams.
