Five shocking moves that could happen on the first night of the NFL Draft

Ed Oliver is one of 23 players who have confirmed they will be in Nashville, Tennessee for the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft, but could he hear his name called int he top 3?

The NFL Draft is quickly approaching and I wanted to talk about five shocking moves that could happen on the first night of the NFL Draft. These would not be out of the norm for the NFL Draft. Let’s get into the goodies bag, and talk about some shocking moves that could happen on the first night of the draft.

Ed Oliver is taken before Quinnen Williams – Yep, I know you are thinking no way this happens, but many believe the New York Jets have Ed Oliver rated higher than Williams. In a recent poll from Bob McGinn of 14 NFL evaluators concluded that Alabama DT Quinnen Williams is the top prospect in the 2019 NFL Draft. That does not mean he will be the top pick though. The Jets recently hosted the Houston pass rusher for a pre-draft visit. The three-time All-American is no doubt an elite prospect but what the Jets need most is an edge rusher, while Oliver is more of an interior lineman. NFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah recently mocked Oliver to the Jets at No. 3, suggesting the 21-year-old is very much on the team’s radar.

Daniel Jones could be the second quarterback taken – Everyone has been saying Dwayne Haskins will be the pick for the New York Giants, but many I speak to are saying Jones is the guy they want. The Giants may not wait to take their quarterback. He’s athletic. He doesn’t have a rocket for an arm, but neither did Peyton Manning. Both Peyton and his brother Eli were trained by David Cutcliffe, who was Daniel Jones head coach at Duke. Jones is very smart. His stock is seemingly on the rise just a few short days from the draft convening, leading one team to reportedly ranks the Duke signal-caller as the top quarterback in this year’s draft. I bet you can guess who that is……

Montez Sweat may not be picked in the top 15 – Many are saying Montez Sweat is a top 10 player, but from everything I am hearing Sweat’s stock is dropping like wildfire. Many believe he will go top 20, but will not go in the top 10. This is extremely shocking considering he was the fastest linebacker ever at his position. Montez Sweat was originally expected to attend the NFL Combine, but he will no longer do so. It’s possible this is related to the concerns over his heart condition. Some teams have reportedly removed Sweat from their draft board, but it’d still be a surprise if he fell out of the first round.

TJ Hockenson is taken before DK Metcalf – Many believe DK Metcalf and his mind-blowing numbers at the Combine will make him a sure fire top 10 pick, but I am hearing TJ Hockenson could be gone as early as pick 7 this week. The NFL Draft is quickly approaching and Hockenson’s draft stock is flying right now. I have heard the Jaguars have interest in him and Jonah Williams as well. The Giants could be a trade partner with someone if they are serious about drafting Daniel Jones early.

Greedy Williams may not be taken in the first round – Could two cornerbaacks be taken before Greedy Williams of LSU? I know it sounds like a crazy statement but many teams have Byron Murphy and DeAndre Baker rated higher than Greedy Williams. Add in the fact that Greedy Williams has not had one single pre-draft visit and it makes you wonder. He was invited to the green room in Nashville, but will he hear his name called on the first night? That is the big question.
