Breaking: Birmingham Iron OL Michael Dunn is expected to sign with Dolphins, pending physical

Michael Dunn of the AAF’s Birmingham Iron is expected to sign with the Miami Dolphins if he passes his physical.

We are learning that another Birmingham Iron offensive lineman is about to sign with an NFL team. Michael Dunn, the former Maryland Terps offensive tackle is headed to Miami, and is expected to sign with the Dolphins pending a physical.

Dunn, a Bethesda native who walked on to the Terps roster as a true freshman in 2012, started 48 games over his career in College Park, primarily at left tackle. He was named an All-Big Ten honorable mention in 2015 and 2016 and last season helped Maryland rush for over 2,500 words for the first time since 2003.

In three years Dunn allowed just 43 total QB pressures across 1,151 pass-blocking snaps and never graded below 80.0 in pass-blocking, per PFF. That type of consistency shined in the AAF, and the Dolphins loved his play. Dunn makes the fourth Iron offensive lineman to sign with an NFL team.
