New York Giants

Why is everyone writing off the New York Giants? Here is how they can turn it all around

The Giants are not out of this party just yet. I think I could salvage this season and many seasons to come. Let me explain. Check this out, and let us know what you think!

The New York Giants are getting crushed by the media right now. Poor David Gettlemen is getting slammed for trading Odell Beckham Jr. to the Cleveland Browns, but I do not feel like this season is necessarily over for them. They can still have a huge turn around, let me explain.

The New York Giants landed safety Jabrill Peppers, and Kevin Zeitler via trade from the Browns. Their team is not that far off, do they need some pieces sure, but they can still salvage this season. They still have 28 million in cap space per Over The Cap, and I am not sure if that has deducted the Odell contract yet, but I think they can do it with the 28 million alone.

Let me explain.

Right now the Giants have their OL in place. They landed Kevin Zeitler who is ten times better than Jamon Brown. This leaves them with Nate Solder, Will Hernandez, Spencer Pulley, Kevin Zeitler and a need at right tackle. So let’s start there. Giants need to go out and sign RT Daryl Williams from the Panthers. He is available and he is probably not getting many calls right now. The Giants GM knows Williams very well as he was in Carolina before New York. If they land Williams they solidify their offensive line.

They have the best young running back in the league in Saquon Barkley so they need nothing there.

Quarterback they need one, a future player who can come in and learn from the old man Eli. That quarterback is already on one team’s roster. Trade pick 37 to the Arizona Cardinals along with a late rounder to land Josh Rosen of the Arizona Cardinals. He is on his rookie contract and has four years remaining. This is a steal considering the Giants have 12 draft picks in 2019 right now.

The Giants just lost their star wide receiver, but they can still be ok. Go out and sign Randall Cobb to play the slot. He is a cheaper player who can come in and make an immediate impact. He can be had cheap and adds a weapon for the veteran Eli. With the 17th pick in the NFL Draft go wide out. The player I would take is Hakeem Butler from Iowa State. Butler with Shepard and Cobb give you weapons. At tight end they have a stud in Evan Engram, and Rhett Ellison is decent.

Onto defense…

At defensive line, use your first pick #6 a defensive lineman. To me Ed Oliver makes the most sense. You then sign Ndamukong Suh and Shaq Barrett as free agents. The Giants need to find guys who can get to the QB. Suh, Barrett and Oliver make the D-Line better. Then draft a guy with a later pick like Maxx Crosby. The Giants defensive line would be stacked.

At linebacker, the Giants have Lorenzo Carter and Alec Ogletree who are solid players. I would go out and sign Zach Brown who was released today by the Redskins. He is  solid player and could be a good depth guy. I would trade a late round pick to the Jets for linebacker Darron Lee and solidify my defensive front.

In the secondary you have a young Jabrill Peppers at safety and with the huge safety market out there you can sign a guy cheap in a few days. There are like ten available take your pick, but at cornerback you need a solid cornerback who does well against big wide outs. I would sign Pierre Desir to go opposite of Janoris Jenkins.  It is simple folks, I just built an entire roster and can keep it under the 28 million in cap. I also landed a future QB and some solid weapons.

A good GM can manipulate this trade to be good. My final roster is:

QB – Eli Manning, Josh Rosen

RB – Saquon Barkley

WR – Sterling Shepard, Hakeem Butler, Randall Cobb

TE – Evan Engram, Rhett Ellison

OL – Nate Solder, Will Hernandez, Spencer Pulley, Kevin Zeitler, Daryl Williams

DL – Ed Oliver, Ndamukong Suh, Shaq Barrett

LB – Darron Lee, Alec Ogletree, Lorenzo Carter, Zach Brown

CB – Janoris Jenkins, Pierre Desir

S – Jabrill Peppers and any free agent safety you want (There are a ton available)

Let us know what you think!
