NFL Draft Diamonds Prospect Interview: Tim Soave, DL, Slippery Rock University

Tim Soave of Slippery Rock University is a good pass rusher and a sound tackler. The 6010 pass rusher wreaks havoc on opposing QB’s.

 Tell us about yourhometown, and what you love most about it?

         •    Small town near New York City that is bigon football. I love that the community has great support and that I can alwaysgrab some good food whenever I need it.

List these three in order of importance and why: Film Study,Strength and Conditioning and Practice?

         •   Strength and conditioning first because you want to be stronger than the person across from you and it prevents injury. Practice second because you practice how you play in the game. If you stay focused, be physical and fly around all week you will be more than ready. Film study would be third because you work out and practice to get to the point to be able to watch film, learn from your mistakes and correct them.

What do you worry about, and why?

         • I worryabout failure because I want to succeed at whatever obstacle my life throws atme next and to give back to my family and community.     

Give me an example of when you failed at something. How didyou react and how did you overcome failure?

         • When I wasin my sophomore season in high school I told myself I was going to be firstteam all-state. I ended up receiving all state honorable mention. I took thatas a fail. Worked out like a mad man and grinded all summer. Came back andreceived first team all-state my junior and senior seasons.       

What do your teammates say is your best quality?

         • Myteammates say my best quality is my positivity and energy in the weight roomand on the field

Who is the best player you have ever played against incollege?

         • Rathen Ricedorff a JUCO quarterback that went to at Boise State

What would your career be if you couldn’t play football?

         •        I would finish my safety managementmajor at SRU and work my way up from safety director to upper management.

Room, desk, and car – which do you clean first?

         •   Always room first    

If there was a disaster and you could either save threestrangers or one family member, which would you choose and why?

         • I wouldchoose one family member every time because my family is most important to mein this life.         

If you could be any television or movie character, who wouldyou be and why?

         • I would be Liam Neeson because he is a badass and is trained to kill yet only uses it for good.

Tell me about your biggest adversity in life and how you’vedealt with or overcome it?

         •My biggest adversity in life was making it to college. I did not think I was going to make it mainly because I always struggled with test taking and school throughout my career but with my family behind me, my drive for football and a better education I barely made it into a junior college and played under Mark Duda at Lackawanna. There I was able to dedicate my time to academics, tutor, and talk to mentors. It took a lot out of me but in the end, I was able to earn a scholarship to play football at slippery rock university and am on the path to graduate.

What is your most embarrassing moment?

         • My mostembarrassing moment was when I walked through a sliding screen door because Ithought it wasn’t there       

What was the most memorable play of your collegiate career?

         •  The most memorable play of my college careeris when I put a lineman in the spin cycle in the third round of the division 2playoffs and sacked the QB forcing them to punt in a close game.

What is the most important trait you can have (Physical orNon-Physical) to help you succeed at the next level?

        • 100% physical. If you aren’t then youprobably won’t make it      

If you could bring one person back from the dead for oneday, who would it be and why?

         • I wouldbring back my grandfather because he passed away a week after I was born and hemeans a lot to my family     

If you were to open a dance club, what would you name it?

         • I would name it Club Inferno

         • Daryl Williams       

Would you rather be liked or respected, and why?

         • I wouldrather be feared    

What player who had his career derailed by off-field issuesdo you feel for the most and why?

         •   Ray rice because he realized he was wrong,got a second chance with his wife and deserved to play the sport he loves

Do you love to win, or hate to lose?

         • I hate tolose     

Who has been the biggest influence on your life and explainwhy?

         • My fatherhas been my biggest influence in life because he coached me in all youthsports, worked out with when I was younger. He made sure nothing was given easyto me and was hard on me when I needed it the most.
